Dear Community Participant,
Thank you for your interest!
Our project, Eating in the time of COVID-19, poses the question: How has your relationship with food changed since the pandemic? This online exhibition aims to reflect culturally diverse and multigenerational experiences with food during the coronavirus pandemic. Content for this online exhibition will be collected through crowdsourcing and social media outreach. Our goal is to gather and display stories, quotes, photos, poems, and illustrations from 30-40 multigenerational participants who live or work in Richmond. The online exhibition will function as an online engagement platform, but also as a legacy piece to document the voices, feelings, and visual representations of the COVID-19 experience.
Your submission will respond to one or more of the following themes:
- How has social distancing impacted your work (food-related occupation)?
- In what ways have you/your workplace adapted to the “new normal”?
- Can you share a story about showing care to others through sharing/delivering food?
- What are some unique online food-related activities you have participated in?
- How have you celebrated special occasions during COVID-19?
- What was your experience of grocery shopping when the pandemic first started?
- How has home cooking changed for your family?
- What are some new recipes that you have learned and where did you learn them from?
- Have you started growing your own food since the pandemic?
- How has the pandemic impacted your experience with issues such as food security, mental health, anti-Asian racism?
Thank you in advance for your participation in our project!
